Two Christmases ago, my co-worker made me the most awesome medal holder which also holds all my half-marathon race bibs. I saw a cute idea on Pinterest for a race bib holder and decided to make one for Nate to hold the bibs from his ultras. I'm not very crafty, but this was pretty easy with Nate's help and it turned out great (although it's not quite finished).
First, we found a piece of board at Michael's for $8 and spray-painted it black. You could also use chalkboard paint if you'd like to be able to change the wording on it periodically. Then we found this little metal rod at Ace Hardware for $4. The nice young man there cut it to an appropriate length for us.
Next, we measured so it would be centered, and Nate screwed these tiny hooks into the board to hold the metal rod. We bought them at Ace Hardware as well.
And finally, we used badge holders that we found at Walmart for $2 to hang the bibs from the rod! Nate insisted that I point out that he's actually completed two additional ultras (a 50 miler and a 50K) that didn't use race bibs : ) I plan to add a title or saying or quote, but I just haven't thought of the right one yet.
If you're not into screwing things into wood (which I wouldn't have done without Nate because it also required some hammering), you could use two oversized push-pins instead and string wire between the two pins instead of using the rod. If I made another bib holder, I would try that instead.
